This really is the height of luxury at a stunningly good value price. The owners of baros Island (half an hour seaplane from Male airport) have worked hard to make the place perfect.

It now features as one of the "small luxury hotels of the world having undergone a seriously good refit. Baros is tropical luxury, catering to the well heeled jet set who expect nothing but the best.

The spa is a beautiful building from the outside, which is a real delight as maldivan resorts have tended to shy away from creative architecture in the past. The food gets top rating with some excellent chefs working their magic for the guests' benefit.

Our reviewer commented that if you can afford to come to Baros, you should" which is the highest of complements.

Viz and the seasons

Here's a little advice for scuba divers. The quality of dive sites all over the maldives varies dramatically according to the season. During the dry season (November to March) you will probably find that dive sites on the eastern side of an atoll have better viz and more pelagic life than the other side due to prevailing currents. Of course, this postion is altered during the wet season. Useful to know if you are planning on diving with Manta Rays which is certainly a highlight for most of us.

Wonderful Honeymoon

We really loved Baros. The whole honeymoon was perfect and I highly reccomend it.

My best tip is to choose the all inclusive option. It saved us a fortune.
