Just 20 km from Airport and it feels like a million miles. We got here and checked in to a really luxurious room with a fantastic inside/outside shower room. There are 100 Rooms on the island and it is, well lets say it isn't walking country. You can get from one end to the other in less than five minutes.

The wooden walkway over to the next island of Veligandu Huraa helped provide room for longer strolls. We needed them because the food was so fantastic we always ate loads.

The Submarine tour was lots of fun.

Dhigu

I visited the island 5 times - all pre tsunami - and loved the no news, no shoes feel. For earlier posters, the name is pronounced Dig-oo-fin-ol-oo, but locals call it Dighu (no wonder they smiled at Digy!). The resort seems to have been totally upgraded and is now very very much more expensive than before. A lovely place.

Diving

We visited Dhighu 5 years ago pre-tsunami. The island was apparently very badly affected with all the inter-island walkways destroyed. Pity, we look back on it as the best of the six islands we have visited and we would be very interested to know how it has been restored. The island has a very large lagoon with distant reef drop off, some very interesting snorkelling not least inside the lagoon where it's easy to film in the calm water. We didn't dive but plenty of happy and enthusiastic divers there - I don't think you can go wrong in the Maldives as long as you choose an island with a dive boat.
