Ellaidhoo Tourist Resort Maldive Island

Ellaidhoo has just 78 rooms, each on the beach, facing the magnificent house reef.
According to the brochure, "The magnificent house reef just 20 meters away from the beach surrounding the island, is believed to be one of the best dive resort in the Maldives." Well we thought that was strecthing it, with so much competition by we cannot deny the reef is in great shape.
What makes it so good is the vertical drop-off on the south of the reef where there are cave mouths to explore. The first is only six metres down and so is in range of people wishing to learn the techniques of freediving.
A short boat ride away is a protected marine reserve where a shark encounter is a distinct possibility.
A sauna, steambath and Jacuzzi in the spa add to the excellent facilities on this lovely island.

Another reviewer called Chris says forget the cyber cafe because the PC is old. Well, I say forget the cyber cafe because you are in the middle of the indian ocean on a perfect maldivian island. Why on earth anyone would want to sit in front of a computer when there are beaches to lie on, fish to swim with and dolphins to watch is a mystery.
fantastic shore diving
As the maldives are coral islands, there are reefs just off shore and Ellaidhoo does not disappoint.
Diving
The diving was good for us in January, but not exceptional. We went to Meedhupparu a couple of years ago and the diving was better there.
tip
Forget the cybercafe. It is one old computer running Windows 98. Laughable
