The Maldive islands are a great destination for scuba diving and those wanting to baste themselves on the beach, but offer little for people who dont fit into those two camps. There is nothing much to do, which is a curse or a blessing depending entirely on the personality of the visitor
Farukolhufushi is one of the less expensive islands and so attracts a young audience looking for a fun time. It is large enough to host two resorts, Club Med Kani and Club Faru. Both are heavily marketed in Germany and to a lesser degree in the UK.

Great holiday
Just got back from a 2 weeks at Club Faru. Friendly helpful staff, great beaches and very good food. There was plenty to do - if you wanted to - and it was quiet. There were regular free trips to nearby reefs for the the best snorkelling I've experienced. The accomodation was basic but clean and spacious. I read some mixed reviews about Club Faru before booking and was slighlty concerned. So glad I went ahead with the holiday.

Take enough suntan lotion
The shop at Farukolhufushi sells suntan lotion at a huge markup. Also, there are no decent gifts to bring home to friends.
