Kandooma Island Resort was recently fully refurbished. They did an amzing job.
Kandooma Island is on the South Ari Atoll. All the usual maldive activities will be available, namely Scuba Diving, Snorkeling, Windsurfing, Catamaran Sailing, Canoeing, Water Skiing, Jet Skiing, Banana boats and fishing excursions.
Accomodation on Kandooma Island is high quality, with modern funky design, rather than the traditional beach huts. As a result it is attracting a hip, chic crowd and there is a real buzz about the island resort.

Kandooma has 160 stylish villas including some lovely overwater villas. They say transfer time is 40 mins by speedboat, but in rough seas you really don't want that trip.
Update
This Island is now owned and managed by HPL Hotels & Resorts. It's no longer the low budget no frills product that it was. Kandooma Tourist Resort will be a Lifestyle Resort when it opens in mid 2008. Info can be viewed at www.kandooma-maldives.com
