Thulhagiri island is just 8 miles from Male airport.
Thulhagiri holidays are a good value option for the Maldives, by being close to Male, the capital it means that this is actually a very good option for people looking for a combination of both traditional maldives beach holidays and a bit of cosmopolitan sightseeing.

Our first maldives experience more than fulfilled our expectations. Beautiful beach with excellent house reef. Brilliant for snorkelling as the water stays shallow for many metres. Black tipped sharks,stingrays and many more fishes could be seen from the jetty. Food was very good. Our only niggle was that we paid for all-inclusive and the white wine was seriously not drinkable ( tasted of a scented Indisn spice!) and we had to purchase a bottle of chilean white at £20 a bottle evey night, although rose, and I believe red wine were acceptable. Also no spirits on the all-inclusive so we were running up a bill on brandy. Probably for us half board would have been better. However none of this would put me off returning. The staff are very friendly, the rooms are kept spotless and all in a very tranquil feeling to the whole island. If you go to Thulhagiri you will certainly enjoy it and even the pickiest of eaters will find something to enjoy. Entertainment was low key but very good. Excellent diving school.
