All inclusive maldives holidays
The Maldives islands are small so the one thing you can rarely do is to leave the 'resort' and go and eat elsewhere. As a result, all-inclusive is in most cases the best value option in the maldives.
Fish and coconuts are sourced locally, but almost everything else has to be flown in. As a result the costs of bespoke eating are higher than almost anywhere else. Economies of scale mean that all-inclusive buffet dining is the only sustainable option.
However, all-inclusive is not uniform and some islands have a far better reputation than others for the quality of the food.
What To Look For From All Inclusive Maldives Holidays
One aspect to check out is what is actually classed as 'all-inclusive'. Some resorts only provide tea and coffee at set hours and wine is never included except with a meal. Bers and Spirits will be generic rather than premium brands except at the top end resorts.
Transfers to and from Male are almost always included.
Beware the upgrade trap. One couple (Chris and Tracey 2009) who had booked standard accomodation on Meedhupparu told us they were seduced into upgrading to waterbungalows. While they didn't regret the added luxury, the change meant they could no longer dine all inclusive and as a result ended up paying a lot more than just the cost of the bungalow upgrade.
