Bandos Island Resort is a great example of the maldives being done well.
Bandos Island Resort is only 7 kilometres from Malé International Airport so the transfer is a short speedboat hop. This adds to the child friendly reputation of Bandos.
Diving on Bandos Island
Divers will discover that Bandos island has one of the best house reefs in the maldives so the underwater activites are both easy and excellent fun for all. The PADI dive centre is professionally run and are able to cater for absolute beginners and advanced divers seeking the best tropical dives.
They finished a major reconstruction project in 2005 and the result is a very trendy new look to Bandos Island Resort.
Top recomendation is that you go for the jacuzzi beach villas. They are top notch.

Deep Sea Fishing
I signed up for the expedition and had a fantastic time. You get hand reels and once baited you drop them down and wait for the fish to bite. Then the fun starts, hauling these great beasts out of the water. None are wasted, because everything gets eaten locally. Fishing in this manner is sustainable and should be enjoyed.
Bowl of fruit
The travel agent kept going on about the bowl of fruit and bottle of wine for honeymooners. They are kind of missing the point if they think that will sway you from one resort to the other.
Bandos is the best island
I agree, you need to give Bandos a better rating. The food was great, the weather was great and the diving was great. I also think that lying on the beach doing nothing is so good for the soul and on Bandos I did more lying on the beach than ever before.

I never believed beaches like this really existed untill I came to Bandos

I think your score of 7 is too low. I would give bandos 9/10 myself. We really loved it.
